Spring Break 2017

If I told you that the home below was a home where I knew children in Dayton lived, would you believe me? It's true. I've driven children home and I have seen families I know in homes like these.  I've seen the inside of some of these homes as well.
I have a new outlook for Snuggled Up Inc. I am no longer taking requests for bed kits on line, for a couple of reasons. First, the list was so long that I felt I could never help as many on the list. Second, once we started calling families on the lists, numbers were changed or turned off and we wouldn't be able to reach more then half of the families requesting and if we DID reach them, they weren't able to come to our pick up location. So, after some praying and thinking we are trying something new.
I will be hauling Snuggle Kit items to the community. For example, just an example, I will send flyers home from the school close by, shout out on social media, and give the date, time, and place I will be located to give Snuggle Kits away. I will ask for volunteers to come and help carry our kits to the homes of the family. We will ask for ID of the parent, and the child's birth certificate (only to copy the child's name) for our data base. I will have a limited supply of kits. Parent's and volunteers will help make the kit on site. The whole kit is a heavy duty cot, twin sheets, twin blanket, and a pillow. The family can choose all the items or just the items needed.
I will be asking for a $10 donation for a whole kit and this money will then be recycled back into Snuggled Up for future items.  Why am I asking for $$? Again, a couple reasons, I think when families are empowered to give back it's not embarrassing getting a 'handout.' We want families to feel involved and also let them choose the items they want/need.  Second, I have found many families want to help others, but don't have the means to do so, we will giving them that opportunity to give back--and GIVING feels good.  If a family cannot afford the kits we will still help them...but I know first hand, dignity is powerful.
